Hundreds of people have gathered in the surroundings of the Cathedral of Almería to say farewell to Gabriel Cruz. The body of the 8-year-old-kid was found last Sunday at his father's girlfriend's car. The police arrested the woman, Ana Luisa Quezada, and accused her of the crime.
Gabriel went missing on February the 27th while he was at his grandmother's home in Hortichuelas, Almería. Only his grandma and his father's girlfriend were with him at the time of the disappearance. On the following days, lots of people took part on a great search to find the child.
During one of these searches Quezada said she had found a T-shirt that belonged to the missing kid. This raised the suspicions of the investigators as the alleged finding took place in a zone which had been already searched.
Quezada became then the main suspect, and the police began following her movements. On Sunday March the 11th, the woman went to an estate owned by the family without knowing she was being followed. There, she took Gabriel's body out of the well where she had hidden it and put it into her car's trunk. Once there was enough proof, the agents arrested her and charged her with the murder of the kid.
The brutality of the crime has shocked the Spanish society. The big social impact has moved several political leaders to attend to the funeral, held in the Cathedral of Almería.
