Bruno Mars becomes the great winner at the Grammys

Bruno Mars won in the three big categories of the Grammy awards and gained all six awards he was nominated for. The Honolulu-born singer triumphed over competitors Kendrick Lamar, who got five and Jay-Z, who went home empty-handed.

Mars' album 24k Magic succeeded over Jay-Z's 4:44, Lamar's DAMN., Childish Gambino's Awaken and Lorde's Melodrama. One of the big news of the night was New Zealand's artist refusal to play at the gala. A decision she took in protest for being the only one of five nominees who wasn't invited to perform solo.

Before the ceremony, Lorde showed her commitment to the White Rose initiative by uploading to her Instagram account an excerpt from a poem of feminist North American artist Jenny Holzer.

As we already saw at the Golden Globes, the Grammys became a moment of vindication against sexual harassment. To show their commitment, many of the attendants wore black clothes and a white rose, the flower chosen as a symbol of the cause. 

There was also time to criticise Donald Trump's migration policies. U2's Bono had words of blessing for those "shithole countries, for they gave us the American Dream" and singer Camila Cabello called herself "a proud Cuban-Mexican immigrant".  In her speech, she remembered the Dreamers who fight every day to make their way into the United States.
