The Mossos D’Esquadra tried to destroy the alert emitted in May by the United States about a possible terrorist attack in Las Ramblas just a few months before the attack that killed 16 people last August.

The attempt was discovered on October 26th by the National Police when the documents were about to be burnt.

According to El Periódico, the original CIA report was among the documents that the Mossos were going to incinerate one day before the Government took control of the regional police after the regional parliament declared independence.

Former Catalan President Carles Puigdemont -now a fugitive-, former Minister of Interior of Catalonia, Joaquim Forn -currently in prison- and former chief of the Mossos, Josep Lluís Trapero -indicted- denied the existence of this document when the information was first revealed by El Periódico.
